I spoke too soon!

Image
Okay, I spoke too soon about July being super-dull.  Today is a family-favorite holiday, National Hot Dog Day.  Thus I get to wear my corn dog!  Etsy shop is CreationsbyCronisha , and they are currently not selling. The corn dog is no gray area, I must say!  I've gotten laughter, compliments, and a few folks that shrug and say "You do you."  Hey, as long as they're not rude I can dig whatever they say.  But I like to wear goofy stuff, and...well, wearing a crocheted corn dog is about as goofy as it gets. Mama and I went on a strict diet around the first of July, because our weight is getting out of hand and our joints ache because of it.  Lots of water, lots of fiber, lots of eggs, no candy or chips or soda.  Not the most fun, but we already feel better because of it.  But today we might go to Sonic and pick up a hot dog apiece.  Sonic makes their hot dogs good.  I like mine with relish, mustard, and kraut, while Mama likes...well, ...

Taste of summer

Image
Mama joked not too long ago that I ought to find a bow with dice on it to wear during my crap-shoot days.  Alas, there was none to be found, but I'm not giving up.  Something new pops up on Etsy all the time.  But it's lemonade season now, and that gave me an excuse to trot out an old favorite.  The shop is also one of my favorites, osewpretty . Mama's favorite color and mine! I associate summer with Kool-Aid as much as I do lemonade, so I browsed Etsy for a Kool-Aid-themed bow...and found nothing.  I found earrings galore, but no hair bows.  It's been YEARS since I drank Kool-Aid anyway; when my sister and I were little Mama made it for us all the time.  Grape was my favorite flavor.  LOL, being a goofy little kid, I pronounced it "coo-laid."  As much as things have changed, Kool-Aid probably isn't as good now as it was when I was a kid.  Nothing is.  The chocolate is waxy, the sodas are bitter, and...well, NOTHING is as good now a...

The day after...

Image
The day after the Fourth...usually this is when we start seeing back-to-school crap.  Sooooo... Fooled ya!  Summer still lives!  Shop is Addi Mae's Bowtique .  Mama and I put ourselves on a diet, no ifs, ands, or buts, but she said we can still have a small cone of ice cream every now and then.  So this Saturday that's what we're gonna do.  Sometimes won't nothing do ya but plain ol' vanilla.  Do ya...LOL, do ya, do ya want my love ???  Ice cream and Electric Light Orchestra...what's not to like? Cheers, RagingMoon1987

Hot, hot heat

Image
Time to batten down the hatches!  Summer is here, and it's an El Nino summer!  Last summer was horrendous, but since El Nino is hanging around I figure this summer will REALLY be a bitch.  Anyway, summer for me means lemonade...heck, anytime means lemonade.  Etsy shop is the defunct AdoraBowsStore. Not much to say today.  I'm in significant pain due to arthritis, and that's left me depressed, but other than that, nothing. Love, RagingMoon1987

Another one for the peanuts

Image
Yep, that's "peanuts" with a lowercase P.  I love Peanuts too, but today is Peanut Butter Cookie Day.  I don't have a bow with a peanut butter cookie on it, but I've got the one with the peanut on it!  Etsy shop is HandmadebyRileyRose . Goodness, how delicious!  Eating goober peas!  LOL, I've probably mentioned before that Daddy was a historian, and sometimes he'd play cassette tapes of Civil War-era songs.  Mama hated it, but I...I actually liked it.  "Eatin' Goober Peas" was one of my favorites because it was about a subject I could relate to.  Goober peas are peanuts, of course, and towards the end of the Civil War they were pretty much all residents of the south had to eat.  I like peanuts, but I think that after a week of 'em I'd get kinda sick of it.  My poor brother-in-law would be up a creek! Peanuts also factored heavily into a book that Mama read to us when we were kids.  The book was entitled Br'er Rabbit and his Friend...

Time for doughnuts again!

Image
It's National Doughnut Day again, and do I love doughnuts! Mama and I picked a bad time to go on a diet, LOL.  If I personally don't lose some of this weight I'm gonna be in a wheelchair before I'm forty and I don't want that.  I want to celebrate my fortieth birthday with fireworks and balloons, not with a wheelchair.  No hate meant towards those who use a wheelchair, of course; I just don't want to use one unless I genuinely cannot move. But I still glutted myself on doughnuts this morning! Love, RagingMoon1987

Who cut the cheese?

Image
National Cheese Day.  I don't have a bow with just cheese, but I have the next best thing!  Etsy shop is HeavenSentBowtique . I love me some mac and cheese...as long as it's not too mooshy.  Sometimes folks cook the noodles to death and they're just...mooshy.  But I can deal with mooshy noodles if the flavor is good, like it is at our local KFC.  My favorite mac and cheese has some kind of meat in it, something like chicken or bacon. Now cheese in general...I would say I'm an enthusiast, but I don't sit around eating cheese, nor have I tasted a lot of the cheeses that cheese enthusiasts do indulge in, so I'll just say that I like cheese and be done with it.  I like it melted on chicken or on my hamburgers, I like the phony stuff that goes on soft pretzels, and more than just about anything I love beer cheese dip.  I haven't had that in a long time, and just thinking about it gets my mouth watering. Love and cheese, RagingMoon1987

Strawberry season?

Image
Actually I'm not expecting strawberries to be ripe anytime soon, but today is Strawberries and Cream Day.  Etsy shop is TwinnsCraftSupplies . I'm VERY fond of strawberries, so I have several bows that pay tribute to that.  Not everyone does, and some folks are even allergic to them.  But I could eat my weight in them.  I particularly like strawberry rhubarb pie...and I haven't had it in years, LITERALLY!!!  My paternal grandmother made it once, and we cut contact with her when I was eleven so I haven't had that pie since.  As obnoxious as Grandma grew to be, she was a great cook.  Daddy always said that the poor thing didn't really get obnoxious until she got too stove up in her back to garden.  Gardening was her outlet, and she was darn good at it.  Flowers and fruits in equal measure, she grew 'em 'til she couldn't, and then she drove Daddy darn near crazy.  That was a rough time.  But I won't forget the good times, and her strawb...

An impossible find

Image
In the past I've mentioned of the impossibility in finding a hair bow with a tornado theme or a train theme.  Underdog sadly proved elusive as well, but I never talked about that until now.  To that sad trifecta I'll add the candy that everyone I know either loves or can't eat, Reese's.  Today is I Love Reese's Day, among other things. Probably if I'd asked the right person I could've had a custom bow, but this orange and yellow number does the job just fine.  Etsy shop is BeccasBowsAndMoreUS . I don't know how many of y'all can eat Reese's, but Mama and I have been eating the ones with caramel a lot lately.  Never would've thunk that caramel and peanut butter would go well together, but they do. Sweet love, RagingMoon1987

A very tasty holiday

Image
Unlike yesterday, I did have something planned in advance for today.  It's National Give Someone a Cupcake Day, among other things.  I wore this bow very recently , but it's so cute I'm gonna wear it again!  Etsy shop is TwinkleToesAndBowsLE . I must say, with the weather being as horrendous as it's been, I should've worn black.  The weather is predicted to be VERY bad today.  We'll see how this pans out.  Regarding cupcakes, which part do y'all think is better, the actual cake or the frosting?  I like both, but Mama and I have always been frosting fans.  And since I haven't had a decent cupcake in months, I'm signing off on this post, LOL! Frosty love, RagingMoon1987

It's Pretzel Day again!

Image
LOL, I went through quite the song and dance to get this bow , but I'd happily shop at that Etsy shop again.  Etsy shop is BowtifulDreamer . Pretzels often go well with beer, so the beer earrings are also making a comeback. The last time I drank beer it made me violently ill (I solemnly swear on a stack of Bibles that I only drank one), so I won't be downing any booze anytime soon.  That headache was awful; my temples pounded like my brain was going to come out.  Then came the nausea, which built and built until I threw up EVERYTHING I'd eaten that day.  The headache subsided...then came back...then subsided...then came back...until I finally said "Forget it" and hit the sack way earlier than I usually do on a Saturday night.  Sleep did a world of good, but I won't be drinking beer for a long time. Pretzels, on the other hand...well, soft pretzels and Snyder's of Hanover pretzel bits are my vice.  Cheese-flavored, mustard-flavored, Buffalo-flavored, brown ...

Another pineapple bow

Image
It's 4/20 Day, but blah-blah-blah, I said that last year.  It's also National Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Day again, so I'll...actually, I can't remember if I've ever worn this one. Certainly is a busy little number, isn't it!  Kinda reminds me of Lady G, a Tonner doll that one of my favorite doll bloggers reviewed many years ago .  She had a short but busy skirt that incorporated stripes and polka dots and just about everything. There are times when I tell Mama, "Oh, you know my taste:  tacky!"  LOL, she swears up and down that my bow today isn't tacky, but I'm not convinced.  Oh well, I like stuff tacky sometimes; that's what makes it fun!  As for pineapple...hmmm, I think I've told y'all of my love-hate relationship with it.  I love it fresh thanks to my sister cramming a wedge of it in my mouth, but the canned stuff?  Forget it!  Despite my ambiguous feelings towards the fruit, I love wearing it as a hair bow or as a jewelry item...

Oops!

Image
Easter snuck up on me! I hate it when Easter comes early!  When it comes early it can often mean rain, cold weather, even snow.  When I was very, very little that meant either no Easter egg hunt at all or one inside.  Not that that wasn't fun, of course!  I distinctly remember Easter of 1994, which fell on April third and was wet and rainy.  I was already a tornado buff at the time and found it fitting that April third would be stormy , but I digress.  Mama and Daddy had hidden the plastic Easter eggs in the living room for my sister and me to find, and oh, what fun we had hiding and rehiding those eggs.  And of course there was the candy and toys in our baskets to make us good and hyper, and The Tale of the Bunny Picnic was on one of the kids' channels so there was that to enjoy.  LOL, I still like that opening song! As I grew older my family started going to church again, and Easter consisted of wearing a new outfit if the weather was nice enuf...

Milk's favorite cookie

Image
And the Moon Girl's favorite cookie as well.  It's Oreo Day, and I love me some Oreos!  Etsy shop is  RoxysBowtiqueShop , where I get many of my more original bows ( Bob Ross !). Mama and I have been known to polish off a whole pack of Double Stuf Oreos during a car ride, and I've never thought to ask my brother-in-law what he thinks of the cookies.  My sister inexplicably hates Oreos, particularly the stuff in the middle...in other words, the best part.  I'll never forget what Uncle From St. Louis cried when he learned Sister didn't like the cookies:  "You don't like OREOS???  That's un-American!!!"  LOL, I don't know what's so American about Oreos, but according to my uncle not liking Oreos is highly abnormal.  That said, I do see Sister's point, as too many of the darn things can give one a mondo sugar rush or worse, a stomachache.  As I've said before, Sister prefers her treats fruity or sour, which Oreos definitely are not. Int...

For all you cupcakes out there

Image
Today is no day in particular.  I had another bow planned, but it's joined the world of missing persons so I improvised.  Mama bought me two new blouses in lovely pastel shades, and I've got the bow to match. That one was also a gift (Etsy shop is TwinkleToesAndBowsLE ).  It was a case of Mama saw it, Mama liked it, Mama bought it. The cupcake on this particular bow reminds me of a couple'a toys I own/owned, both from the "Cupcakes" doll line by Tonka.  The wrapper looks like Berri Blue's... ...but the top looks like...a combination of Beri's and Taffy Tammy's, actually.   I currently own Beri Blue , and I owned Taffy Tammy when I was a little girl.  The Cupcakes were adorable and smelled delectable.  I freaking love these. I love cupcakes too.  The craziest thing I've ever had was a pickle cupcake , believe it or not. Sounds disgusting, but believe y'all me, it was delicious!!! What's y'all's favorite flavor of cupcake? Sweet love...

National Strawberry Day

Image
As spring inches ever closer, I wear more of my spring/summer bows.  Besides, it's National Strawberry Day.  I love strawberries.  To my considerable surprise I've not yet worn this bow; the shop is TwinsCraftSupplies . I wonder why they're called strawberries when they don't grow on the plants that make straw???  They don't jeehaw well with drinking straws either, as strawberry milkshake fans will attest.  But regardless of the name strawberries are pretty awesome...unless one is allergic to them, that is.  Yep, strawberry allergies are real. Strawberry season is a long way off yet, so I wonder why National Strawberry Day is today.  Oh sure, I can get a carton of 'em at the grocery store, but killecrankie, have y'all seen the prices on fresh fruit???  I'm a spendthrift and will thus buy strawberries whenever I please, but the prices make me want to...well, NOT please! Strawberry love, RagingMoon1987

Star-spangled ice cream

Image
At the behest of my mother I selected this bow today, one with rainbow stars and an ice cream motif in the center. I don't know why Mama likes this particular bow, but she does.  It's probably the colors, LOL.  Or maybe she remembers that I liked stars when I was in high school.  Everyone who knew me back then knew that I loved stars, especially shooting stars. At the time I liked ice cream too.  I still do, but back then I couldn't get enuff of the stuff.  Back during my teenage years our local Sonic was halfway decent (now the service sucks), and any celebration was call for ice cream of some sort.  My sister...I actually don't remember if my sister liked ice cream or not!  We were always so different!  But I loved ice cream.  I still do, but if I eat a lot of it at one time I get sick to my stomach. Frosty love, RagingMoon1987

Does pineapple belong on pizza?

Image
My vote is for yes, but you do you.  As Garfield once pointed out, no one can EVER agree on pizza toppings .  LOL, today is National Pizza Day.  Shop is KallieBowCo . What aliens have to do with pizza, I don't know, but I love the juxtaposition.  If Pizza Hut is to be believed, it was extraterrestrial pizza-cutter aliens who made stuffed crust pizza popular, so there's that, I guess.  LOL, I loved those Pizza Head commercials! I don't know really what to say about pizza, except that there is a fanbase devoted enuff to have their own magazine.  Dolly fans, knitters, Whovians, and railfans all have their own magazines, and apparently so do pizza fans.  PMQ Pizza Magazine is who I turn to on the rare occasion when I need info on pizza, LOL.  In September of 2011 they ran an interesting article on the pizza joints that were wiped out by the then-recent Joplin tornado, discussing everything from Pizza Hut to the local mom 'n' pop shops.  The Pi...

A sweet heart

Image
A sweet heart for a sweetheart, though in truth I'm about as sweet as a Sour Patch Kid. Sour Patch Kids never were my favorite candy.  My sister likes her candy as sour as humanly possible, but I prefer mine fruity or chocolatey.  Now doughnuts...well, if you listen to Cookie Monster doughnuts aren't as good as cookies, but I love me a big fat glazed doughnut.  I almost NEVER see 'em in the shape of a heart, but I have seen them shaped like stars or flowers.  Thus I reckon that a heart would be small potatoes. If y'all wish to know my preference on baked goods...well, I like anything with cream cheese in it a lot, LOL.  I'm not terribly picky, though.  Sometimes one just wants a plain old doughnut.  I especially like those little powdered ones that folks sometimes eat for breakfast. Hearts and sprinkles, RagingMoon1987

Awww, nuts!

Image
It's National Peanut Butter Day!  Shop is HandmadebyRileyRose . My family has to be extremely careful about peanuts nowadays, because my brother-in-law has a peanut allergy.  But when he's not around my mom and I love peanuts and peanut butter sandwiches.  Oh, and the occasional Butterfinger bar.  I freaking love those.  Truth be told I love anything that's got peanut butter in it. I knew a kid that DIDN'T like peanut butter, though.  He was and still is our preacher's son, and when he was little he couldn't stand peanut butter.  I don't know why, never did find out why, but he didn't care for the stuff.  Admittedly it can get cloying after awhile.  But I never thought to ask him why, and he never said, and it wasn't my business anyway.  I just thought it was kinda funny, because most kids love peanut butter. Of course the debate still rages:  creamy or crunchy peanut butter.  I like both, but if you aimed a gun at my chest and...
