A type of pride I can support

Image
It's Autistic Pride Day, and while I'm not diagnosed as being on the spectrum, I have friends who are.  Etsy shop is fittingly named bowsforthebelle . Not much to say today that I haven't said in the past!  I am considering having myself tested for Asperger's because several friends tell me that I've got symptoms, but other than that, nothing. The return of the puzzle piece bow

Adult Autism Awareness Day is today, and their symbol is the puzzle piece, just like it is for autistic children. I kinda think that we're ALL on the spectrum to some extent.  Indeed, I think a touch of autism may run in my mother's side of the family.  My great aunt was a carefully organized hoarder, left the heat on in summertime, and had NO FILTER!  If you'd put on weight, she'd let you know.  If you were slouching, she'd poke you in the back and make you stand up straight.  She didn't do it to be ugly, not really.  She was just...VERY concerned about us looking like we were worth something.  I too am eccentric, but...I think I'm just eccentric. Speaking of eccentrics, one of my favorite people, Suzanne "Underdog" Muldowney," legit IS on the autism spectrum.  This is her now; in her youth she was quite pretty. Speed of lightning!  Roar of thunder!  Fighting all who rob or plunder!  Ahem...Miss Suzanne has Asperger's syndrome, whi...

Be kind

Today I have a meeting with the bosses and I'm freaking out.  The last time the county had a meeting like this it turned into a ream-Malden-for-everything session, so I'm not looking forward to this.  Probably by the time this post goes up we'll be starting, so...say a little prayer.  To remind me to be on my best behavior, I put in an autism awareness bow.  Be kind, Moon Girl.  Bite your tongue and be kind.  Etsy shop is bowsforthebelle . "Be kind" is a tagline often attached to these bows (and indeed ANYTHING autism-themed), and it's usually directed at the person talking to an autistic person.  But it's not a bad idea to be kind no matter who you're talking to...unless the person you're talking to is going out of their way to be a jerk.  Then it should be okay to be a jerk back.  Hey, it's what I do, LOL. Today is no particular holiday unless you want to be like SpongeBob SquarePants and make one up, so I'll just call it quits for today....
