Leave me alone

The first Wednesday in May is the Great American Grump-Out.  I chose my black satin bow for the occasion. Back in high school I didn't need an excuse to be a bitch, LOL.  On this particular Great American Grump-Out I've got the PERFECT excuse.  My bosses are coming, as are a passle of kindergarteners.  As I said yesterday, I prefer my children fricasseed.  THIS might keep 'em at bay! My new bracelet is made of rosary peas, and when properly chewed a single pea kills you slowly and painfully.  Not that I plan on feeding these to the kids...but they don't know that.  Bwa-ha-ha! Return of another favorite

Crap shoot day equals bow picked at random.  This one hasn't seen the light of day since last July ! It's kinda hard to go wrong with a bow that has this many colors on it.  Plus, this one is one that Mama surprised me with, so it's extra special.  Etsy shop is the defunct AdoraBowsStore. As doldrumy as the weather has been lately something bright is pretty fitting.  Monday was the only nice day we had this week, which suited me just fine since that was Eclipse Day.  Since then it's been a long void of clouds, wind, and rain, but that suits me just fine too because I love clouds and rain. That's all, y'all!  Not much to say today! Love, RagingMoon1987

Part of your world

Image
Today is International Mermaid Day, where we pay tribute to merfolk all over the world.  But today I'm dealing with just one particular mermaid.  Etsy shop is the one and only MoFunAccessories . This hair dec is a fairly obvious nod to The Little Mermaid , particularly with the "dinglehopper."  I never was the world's biggest Little Mermaid fan, though I did love how Ariel wasn't afraid to back-talk to her father.  I do not recommend sassing one's parents, but we all know that teenagers do it, and Ariel was precisely that (she specifically states that she's sixteen).  Then true of teenagers she makes a rash decision and gets in over her head, but because this is Disney everything ends hunky-dory. It's funny, I didn't have a lot of problems with my family when I was sixteen.  True, I wasn't allowed to do much and I didn't like that, but instead of yelling and arguing I asked Daddy point-blank "Don't you trust me to say 'no'?...

Way outta line!

You could by mine, but you're WAY OUTTA LINE !!!  The last Thursday in January is apparently Clashing Clothes Day.  I wore a maroon blouse today, so I paired it with this monstrosity of a JoJo Bow.  I last wore this one on May sixth , when it was starting to get hot. Monstrosity nothing, LOL.  This is actually one of my favorite bows.  Not only does it clash with my shirt, but it also clashes with my surroundings!  The bow itself is summery, but right now it's raining and kinda cold.  Not as cold as it was last week, mind y'all, but cold enuff.  AND foggy!  I'm glad no one I love has had to fly anywhere.  I'd estimate that visibility was down to a quarter mile at its worst. With all that pink it's a perfect way to segue into a holiday season that utilizes a lot of pink, but I won't be doing that for a few more days yet.  I have valentine hair bows, but not as many as I do Christmas and Independence Day bows. Alright, ya big candy cane!

Image
I found this on September 15th, believe it or not.  It stood out in bold relief against all the black, orange, and purple that was available for Halloween. I don't know about y'all, but when Christmas rolled around we had the tree that we always decorated, and mixed in with the bubble lights, the Kansas City Chiefs ornaments, and the tinsel garlands, there were usually about a dozen candy canes.  I don't care so much for candy canes now, but when you're a little kid any candy is good candy, and those candy canes never made it to December 25th. Oh, decking the halls was one of my favorite things when I was a kid.  Sometimes we started immediately after Thanksgiving, and sometimes we waited until the first weekend in December, but regardless of when we started the routine was the same.  Mama would light sweet-smelling candles, bust out the cookies and the Coca-Cola, and we'd all get to work.  To get us in the spirit Daddy would play appropriate music, and since hi...

Mr. Blue Sky

This one was a freebie, one that came with a clip I bought from MoFunAccessories .  I love that shop! Idiot Uncle Man-Child was snooping over Mama's shoulder, and when he saw the picture of this bow he thought it was a cat.  The colors make me think of Alice in Wonderland, but I'll save my discussion of Alice for another time and another bow.  The flourishes in the center make me think of Faberge eggs . I told Mama that if I were a rich lady I'd buy one piece of Faberge jewelry.  Just one.  After all these years they're still very much into Easter eggs, and a lot of their necklaces pay tribute to that.  But shee-yoodie, some of those prices!  One could buy a nice house or a REALLY nice car for the price of some of those necklaces...and wouldn't y'all know, one of the most expensive ones is my favorite necklace.  I like it the best because it's modelled after one of the imperial eggs .  I wish there was a necklace that was modelled after the ...

Black Cat Appreciation Day

Image
My bow today is one of the simpler ones, one that my deceased friend gave me.  I call this one my workhorse, because a simple black bow goes with everything.  I wore this one on July 18th , so it's a repeat. The earrings, however...these came from somewhere on Etsy.  Mama got 'em for me, and as usual I don't know what shop she got them from. I like how these have both black cats and gears.  Kinda gives 'em a steampunk sort of vibe.  And of course I love the black cats.  Currently I own a grand total of nine (yes, NINE) cats, but sadly none of them are black.  Mama has three cats, and two of them are black...take that back.  Edgar had the nerve to escape and never come back, so now she's down to one black cat and one cat that's tabby and white. Black cats have always been both special and elusive to my family up until about ten years ago.  The first black cat that my immediate family owned came along when I was in first grade.  One aftern...

A gift from a friend

Image
Today's bow is one of my plainer ones, black satin with a big fake pearl in the center.  As usual, the story behind it makes it special.  Up until about a year ago, I had a friend named Karen.  Karen was a single mother and had worked as a janitor at the school, so she had no end of funny stories.  We enjoyed her company so much at the library that we'd pull a chair behind our workstations and let her sit.  There we'd talk and cut up until closing time.  If other patrons came in we'd invite them to join the fun.  Unprofessional?  Maybe, but we all enjoyed it. Karen was crafty and good in the kitchen, and every so often she'd surprise us with homemade cookies or a knickknack for the library or something like that.  One day she came in with this bow and another nice clip in her hands.  "My hair is too short for these, and I know you like hair do-dads," she said.  Oh, did I have a big smile on my face that day! Karen is sadly no longer...

A nice surprise

Image
A great many of my hair bows are gifts, usually from my mother and less often from someone at the library.  Today is one of those; my mom knows how I love polka dots and bright colors, so she got me this.  The Etsy shop is one we both love, AdoraBowsStore .  It has hidden rhinestones on the side, like a couple of my other bows do. The colors in the center remind me a little of a pearl necklace that I got Mama for Mother's Day one year.  She doesn't remember it, to my considerable surprise, but I do.  It was one of those pea pod necklaces that mamas get, with the "peas" being pearls in the colors of the children's birthstones.  The pea pod I selected had a blue one for my sister (September/sapphire), a pink one for myself (October/opal or tourmaline), and a yellow one for my brother-in-law (November/topaz).  Just like the pearls on this particular bow. To my chagrin, Mama has yet to wear the necklace.  I forget how many years ago that was, and she'...

Orange and pink? Yep!

Image
After the rain yesterday the temperatures jumped, and now it'll be in the eighties for the foreseeable future.  Guess who has an air conditioner that's on the blink?  <raises hand>  This has been an ongoing problem over the past few years, and I believe it's time to get a new AC.  But in the meantime I'll wear this goofy thing. I never thought orange and pink made a good combination, but for college I was given a set of orange and pink sheets, plus an orange and pink comforter that was the warmest thing on the planet.  I thus grew to love the combination, even though the colors do clash badly.  What can I say, I've always liked colors that contrasted or outright clashed.  I like the addition of fake pearls, too.  It's another juxtaposition, something kinda classy with something kinda casual. Oh yes, and the daisies are smiley faces.  In high school my attitude was often "If you can't wear a peace sign, wear a smiley face."  Rather ...

Butterfly, mariposa, schmetterling...beer?

Image
For me it's not officially spring until I see a butterfly.  I saw my first one about a week before the last wave of tornadoes came through, so it's been spring for me exactly that long.  But I'm only now trotting out the bow. Mama says that this is one of her favorite JoJo bows.  Usually I'm not a big fan of pastels...awww, who am I kidding?  I love pastels, though I don't love how pink gets forced down the throats of little girls.  Pink IS a nice color, but so are lots of other colors.  Now that I think of it...are these pastel butterflies, or are they more neon???  Maybe a little bit of both???  That green is pretty bright, after all, but it's also pretty light.  As I said above my feelings for pastels are a little complicated, I've always loved neon-colored anything.  Indeed, once FailBook had a slot on its profile layout for an individual's favorite colors, and the ones I listed were acid green, neon blue, hot pink, and oddly, black...
