Taste of summer

Mama joked not too long ago that I ought to find a bow with dice on it to wear during my crap-shoot days.  Alas, there was none to be found, but I'm not giving up.  Something new pops up on Etsy all the time.  But it's lemonade season now, and that gave me an excuse to trot out an old favorite.  The shop is also one of my favorites, osewpretty.

I associate summer with Kool-Aid as much as I do lemonade, so I browsed Etsy for a Kool-Aid-themed bow...and found nothing.  I found earrings galore, but no hair bows.  It's been YEARS since I drank Kool-Aid anyway; when my sister and I were little Mama made it for us all the time.  Grape was my favorite flavor.  LOL, being a goofy little kid, I pronounced it "coo-laid."  As much as things have changed, Kool-Aid probably isn't as good now as it was when I was a kid.  Nothing is.  The chocolate is waxy, the sodas are bitter, and...well, NOTHING is as good now as it was...or my memory is skewed, one or the other.  Memories can unfortunately trick people like that.  You can't rely on 'em to be 100% accurate.

Yet another patriotic one.  This one came from Etsy, but I don't know what shop it was. This one is one of three that my mother got for me in one fell swoop.  The others are the jellybean bow from June 3rd and the flag bow from June 14th . Like them, this bow is a big one. Pac-Man fever

For the record, I suck at Pac-Man.  I've only played it a handful of times, but each time I couldn't get past the first level.  I guess it's one of those games that requires practice and patience...and patience is NOT one of my virtues!  Regardless, I do like Pac-Man.  Compared to the dumb video games we have today Pac-Man's simple innocence is...well, it's pretty nice.  Unfortunately I'm about to make myself look like a complete hypocrite, because my Pac-Man is munching more than just little white pellets! Phooey on pellets and fruit and ghosts, Pac-Man's hitting the hard stuff!  The Etsy carrier, DollfaceDesignss , goes heavy on the horror, so I guess Pill-Popper Pac-Man is kinda tame compared to Psycho .  Whatevs, I like my accessories a little (or a lot) on the offbeat side, so I'm happy.  This is a mighty nice bow, by the way.  Some of my bows pull my hair like mad, but this one slid right in. Fancy a jellybean?

No thanks, I'm good.  I positively loathe jellybeans...unless they're on my hair bow. Mama hauled off and surprised me with three huge hair bows shortly after the beginning of May.  Two of 'em are patriotic, and the third one is this one, my jellybean bow.  Even though I don't particularly care for jellybeans, I love the colors!  It's a nice big bow too, exactly 7.75 inches across.  Okay, I lie a little bit about jellybeans.  I'm just VERY.  VERY.  PICKY.  I like the Starburst-brand jellybeans, and certain flavors of Jelly Belly (peach is my favorite).  Peach is just about my favorite anything, LOL.   Funny story about jellybeans.  After a story got loose in England about George Harrison and his fondness for Jelly Babies (a softer confection that isn't available stateside), well-meaning fans started throwing the sweets at George and the rest of the Beatles.  News travels fast, and when the Beatles started playing American gigs fans threw jellybeans at them a
