The Bow Belle

I reiterate my sentiment from earlier in the week; I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel for reasons to wear a certain bow.  Today is Lizzie Borden's birthday, and National Stick Out Your Tongue Day...oh yes, Lizzie Borden.  The disembodied doll head. Lizzie Borden took an axe Gave her mother forty whacks When she saw what she had done She gave Father forty-one From what I've read Andrew and Abby Borden kinda needed someone to slap them into shape.  They were rich and thus were kinda elitist, like many rich people can be.  Lizzie and her sister Emma also suspected that Abby married their father for his money.  NO ONE in the family bothered to remember the proper name of their maid, Bridget Sullivan; their last maid was a woman named "Maggie," and the Bordens called poor Bridget "Maggie" instead.  Now...all that said, is that an excuse for murder?  Not really, no.  But Andrew and Abby ended up dead, Lizzie and Bridget were both suspected, and Lizzi...

It's Water a Flower Day, though I'd advise against watering my big sunflower.  I wore this bad boy on Eclipse Day !  Etsy shop is GnosisCraftsandGifts . No solar eclipse for the Moon Girl today (or possibly ever again), but I'll remember the one on April 8th for a loooong time.  Hopefully forever. Sadly there will be no sunflowers for me today either, as I haven't got a place to grow them.  Not yet, anyway.  No one else is growing sunflowers either...hold that thought.  God's wild sunflowers are growing in a field next to one of the graveyards and they look amazing.  I love sunflowers. ...but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.  Yep, today's the day!  I'm supposed to be off on Mondays, but I fell ill on Saturday and Mama and I traded days.  Since it is Eclipse Day I opted for my big sunflower. A friend told Mama on Saturday that his sister was throwing a "sunflower party" during the eclipse.  When asked why he replied that during totality the sun looks like a sunflower, complete with petals.  The petals, of course, are the sun's corona and prominences, which I'm hoping to see today.  It's supposed to be partly cloudy today, so we'll see. Today is National Dandelion Day.  Etsy shop is MaddieGsBoutique18 . My love for dandelions goes back a looooong way.  Ever since I was a toddler I loved the sunshine-colored flowers and the fluffy white seed heads.  I'd gather bouquets of the blossoms and give them to my parents, my teachers, my friends.  I'd blow the fluff off the seed heads and make wishes.  I'd use the stems as microphones and pretend to be Bob Barker or someone like that.  Now I'm a hair past pretending to be the dearly departed Bob Barker, but dandelions continue to be useful.  In this increasingly nutty day and age my mother has become something of a prepper, and I in tern am trying to learn what plants might be of use if the grid does crash.  What's good for asthma?  Anise can help.  For anxiety?  Our old buddy chamomile, which is good in tea.  For a nasty cold?  Well...nothing can CURE that, but I'm told that ginger can help.  What can be eate...

I never did understand where the author of that nursery rhyme got the idea that lavender is blue.  Lavender is...well, lavender!  It made for a helluva song , though.  Despite the beauty of the color I rarely see lavender hair bows, so when I saw this dandy I snapped it up. Lavender, daisies, and BUTTERFLIES!!!  What's not to like? No, I went through my boxes during the weekend, and most of the lavender bows I've got are actually lavender mixed with other colors (examples here and here ).  I also have my pom pom bow, which I trot out when I'm missing my sister a lot (posts here and here ).  Most of my other purple bows are deep purple, like the band .  Lavender is not a common color in my bow box though, and that's a shame because I love lavender.  Lavender love, RagingMoon1987 

Today is International Mermaid Day, where we pay tribute to merfolk all over the world.  But today I'm dealing with just one particular mermaid.  Etsy shop is the one and only MoFunAccessories . This hair dec is a fairly obvious nod to The Little Mermaid , particularly with the "dinglehopper."  I never was the world's biggest Little Mermaid fan, though I did love how Ariel wasn't afraid to back-talk to her father.  I do not recommend sassing one's parents, but we all know that teenagers do it, and Ariel was precisely that (she specifically states that she's sixteen).  Then true of teenagers she makes a rash decision and gets in over her head, but because this is Disney everything ends hunky-dory. It's funny, I didn't have a lot of problems with my family when I was sixteen.  True, I wasn't allowed to do much and I didn't like that, but instead of yelling and arguing I asked Daddy point-blank "Don't you trust me to say 'no'?...

So far every day this week has either begun or ended with a big FML moment.  Yesterday was the worst so far, so I'm hoping maybe a unicorn will offer me some luck. Yeah, I figure a unicorn appearing in my life is about as likely as the perfect man appearing, but it doesn't stop the bow from being cute.  And with the good Lord on my side I don't need unicorns anyway. Happy National Peculiar People Day, y'all!  I freaking love being an eccentric! I wish my sister were here.  She'd HATE this bow.  Etsy shop is one of my favorites, MoFunAccessories , and there was an interesting story behind this particular bow.  I'd picked a similar one with a decapitated Lalaloopsy doll on it, but the proprietor of the store contacted me and told me the Lalaloopsy bow had disappeared in the mayhem that was her shop!  She offered me another bow, I picked the other beheaded doll, and all was well.  The proprietor of this shop is extremely accommodating, and I can't recommend her enuff. Yep, I guess y'all could say that I'm Malden's resident eccentric.  It's not uncommon to see a fat brunette limping through a graveyard with one or more dolls in my hands, looking for that perfect spot to set up for a photo op.  Or you might see me limping around looking up, my phone in my hands, as I wait for a special cloud to be perfectly illumi...

After the rain yesterday the temperatures jumped, and now it'll be in the eighties for the foreseeable future.  Guess who has an air conditioner that's on the blink?  <raises hand>  This has been an ongoing problem over the past few years, and I believe it's time to get a new AC.  But in the meantime I'll wear this goofy thing. I never thought orange and pink made a good combination, but for college I was given a set of orange and pink sheets, plus an orange and pink comforter that was the warmest thing on the planet.  I thus grew to love the combination, even though the colors do clash badly.  What can I say, I've always liked colors that contrasted or outright clashed.  I like the addition of fake pearls, too.  It's another juxtaposition, something kinda classy with something kinda casual.
