Milk's favorite cookie
And the Moon Girl's favorite cookie as well. It's Oreo Day, and I love me some Oreos! Etsy shop is RoxysBowtiqueShop, where I get many of my more original bows (Bob Ross!).
Mama and I have been known to polish off a whole pack of Double Stuf Oreos during a car ride, and I've never thought to ask my brother-in-law what he thinks of the cookies. My sister inexplicably hates Oreos, particularly the stuff in the middle...in other words, the best part. I'll never forget what Uncle From St. Louis cried when he learned Sister didn't like the cookies: "You don't like OREOS??? That's un-American!!!" LOL, I don't know what's so American about Oreos, but according to my uncle not liking Oreos is highly abnormal. That said, I do see Sister's point, as too many of the darn things can give one a mondo sugar rush or worse, a stomachache. As I've said before, Sister prefers her treats fruity or sour, which Oreos definitely are not.
Interestingly, Oreos are a footnote in Barbie's history. Meet Oreo Barbie.

As Mattel often does, they released this Barbie in a black form and a white form. They were trying to be racially inclusive but they ended up being racially insensitive, as "Oreo" is a slur for a black person who "acts white." As a result Afro-American Oreo Barbie is now a collector's item that goes for a pretty penny. Thus why I have the white doll, LOL. The black doll is cute, but I can't afford her. Oh, and for the record, Cracker Barbie is also real. She's actually Ritz Cracker Barbie, but folks just called her "Cracker Barbie." The two troublesome dolls are both collector's items, and I must say that they make quite a cute pair! Oreo is dressed dominantly in blue, while Cracker is dressed mostly in red, and as a result they look adorable together. Kinda like a Pepsi machine and a Coke machine side by side.
Whatever, I don't want to turn this into a discussion about race, not when Oreo cookies (and soda) are loved by people of all races and colors. Indeed, I read last winter that Nabisco is now offering gluten-free options. Dirt cake and tiramisu are also waiting in the wings, and oh my Lordy, do I love dirt cake! According to that article dirt cake will be a limited time flavor, while tiramisu may be a permanent addition to the Oreo lineup. I'm pretty excited for those. The dirt cake cookies are supposed to have rainbow sprinkles on them to represent the gummy worms that usually accompany a real dirt cake.
Happy Oreo Day,
