The Bow Belle

Daisy Davenport, Girl of the Year 2027, either has been released or will soon be released.  In honor of this occasion I'm wearing my American Girl bow. I've got a tacky shirt somewhere too, LOL.  I like tacky.  I can't say that I'm too excited about Daisy Davenport, though, as she appears to be yet another white doll with the Josefina face.  But she'll no doubt appeal to some little girls and adult collectors out there. Today's bow is one of those I picked up out of the toy area in Wal-Mart.  It's got L.O.L. Surprise emojis on it. I kinda wonder if L.O.L. Surprises aren't on the downturn.  I don't see as many advertisements, and the handful of little girls I see don't talk about them.  But I see so few children nowadays, so their word doesn't count for much. Oooo, I get two random days in a row! I don't know about y'all, but I'm kinda disappointed that the Lalaloopsy revival didn't last long.  True, the button-eyed minxes were top-heavy and not the least bit cuddly, and they creeped some people out, but they were also ridiculously popular during their heyday, and I'll happily admit to being a fan.  Indeed, I'm STILL looking for a Mittens Fluff 'n' Stuff; for some reason she was the It Girl when Lalaloopsy was a new thing. I reiterate my sentiment from earlier in the week; I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel for reasons to wear a certain bow.  Today is Lizzie Borden's birthday, and National Stick Out Your Tongue Day...oh yes, Lizzie Borden.  The disembodied doll head. Hip-hip-hooray, it's a random day!  For this random day I choose...one that is very bizarre.  Etsy shop is the one and only MoFunAccessories . Seriously, I think that's the only Etsy shop that offers dismembered doll heads as jewelry or accessories.  I own one like this already, and Monique says she's still looking for another that she lost.  LOL, I like Monique!  She admitted to me in a message that her work area looked like a tornado hit it, and as a result she lost the clip I wanted.  So I picked something else and was quite happy.  This isn't that one, but I like it just the same. As for the doll, that looks a lot like a Barbie clone that I bought long ago.  I named her Kate Kite , a play on " Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! "  Mine is a redhead. Despite my best efforts I could not find a Cabbage Patch Kid-themed bow.  I could find bows FOR the Kids, but no themed bow for the fat girl who owns almost thirty Kids.  I did find a bow with the Bratz on it, but it was kinda ugly so I didn't get it either.  The Bratz are divisive; even my friends on the doll blog are divided on them, but I associate them with good times.   And now I go to a funeral.  Funzies...not. I prefer my children fricasseed.  LOL, it's Day of the Child, which I guess means my biggest, goofiest bow.  I last wore this one on April 13th of last year . Also one of my heaviest.  This bow is NOT a frequent flier as a result, though it IS cute and well-made.  But yeah, my mom had it out with a pair of children and their Karen mother yesterday, so children are not high on my nice list right now.  Yeah, yeah, I know there's lots of good kids out there, but I'd prefer that they be good over there while I sit here. Well, actually, no I can't.  I used to love to sing, but now I can't sing worth a dern so I don't bother unless I'm alone.  Anyway, today is Find a Rainbow Day.  It's also April Sunsplash's birthday, and that would normally mean me wearing my bow with her on it , but that darn thing is heavy!  This one is not.  StarchasersUK supplied this one. Today is Live Long and Prosper Day, but I'm not big enuff of a Star Trek fan to have one of the bows.  Not yet, anyway; I certainly have nothing against Star Trek , and I love that fiasco with the Tribbles.  The Doctor captured me with ease, so I reckon First Officer Spock can too if I let him.  By the way, when I was a little kid Spock gave me the creeps; there was a poster in the old library with him on it, and I did everything I could to avoid it.  Rambling aside, no Star Trek bow today.  I picked something at random, something I haven't worn in awhile.  VeryShine is the Etsy shop this time; I last wore this bow in September . According to sources, Barbie's birthday is today.  If she were a real little person she'd be sixty-five. Of course this bow doesn't show my mother's vintage Barbie, the one who I always picture when I think of good ol' Barbie, but as I noted last summer no Barbie bows show the vintage dolls.  Kinda a shame, but then again most vintage doll collectors don't make a habit of wearing hair bows.  The Etsy shop, YellowBellesCreation, appears to be defunct. Mama and I have been known to polish off a whole pack of Double Stuf Oreos during a car ride, and I've never thought to ask my brother-in-law what he thinks of the cookies.  My sister inexplicably hates Oreos, particularly the stuff in the middle...in other words, the best part.  I'll never forget what Uncle From St. Louis cried when he learned Sister didn't like the cookies:  "You don't like OREOS???  That's un-American!!!"  LOL, I don't know what's so American about Oreos, but according to my uncle not liking Oreos is highly abnormal.  That said, I do see Sister's point, as too many of the darn things can give one a mondo sugar rush or worse, a stomachache.  As I've said before, Sister prefers her treats fruity or sour, which Oreos definitely are not. Today is no day in particular.  I had another bow planned, but it's joined the world of missing persons so I improvised.  Mama bought me two new blouses in lovely pastel shades, and I've got the bow to match. That one was also a gift (Etsy shop is TwinkleToesAndBowsLE ).  It was a case of Mama saw it, Mama liked it, Mama bought it. The cupcake on this particular bow reminds me of a couple'a toys I own/owned, both from the "Cupcakes" doll line by Tonka.  The wrapper looks like Berri Blue's... ...but the top looks like...a combination of Beri's and Taffy Tammy's, actually.   I currently own Beri Blue , and I owned Taffy Tammy when I was a little girl.  The Cupcakes were adorable and smelled delectable.  I freaking love these. I love cupcakes too.  The craziest thing I've ever had was a pickle cupcake , believe it or not. Sounds disgusting, but believe y'all me, it was delicious!!! On this day in 1953, Lucy Ricardo went to the hospital to have Little Ricky.  Etsy shop is RoxysBowtiqueShop . My mother is the family's I Love Lucy fan, but I like the show too.  My favorite clip is this one, where Lucy annihilates several home movies and hilarity ensues.  I've even got a couple'a the dolls.  There were a bajillion I Love Lucy dolls during my adolescence, and I've got these two. The Vitameatavegimin doll (left) is particularly special because she reminds me of how hard Mama laughs at that scene.  We all know by now how the scene is gonna end, but we all still think it's a riot.  The doll with the cello is called "The Audition," and I've never seen that episode.  My review on "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" can be found here ; that doll review is older than Methuselah now, but I still have that doll tucked away in my doll room. Happy National Peculiar People Day, y'all!  I freaking love being an eccentric! I wish my sister were here.  She'd HATE this bow.  Etsy shop is one of my favorites, MoFunAccessories , and there was an interesting story behind this particular bow.  I'd picked a similar one with a decapitated Lalaloopsy doll on it, but the proprietor of the store contacted me and told me the Lalaloopsy bow had disappeared in the mayhem that was her shop!  She offered me another bow, I picked the other beheaded doll, and all was well.  The proprietor of this shop is extremely accommodating, and I can't recommend her enuff. Yep, I guess y'all could say that I'm Malden's resident eccentric.  It's not uncommon to see a fat brunette limping through a graveyard with one or more dolls in my hands, looking for that perfect spot to set up for a photo op.  Or you might see me limping around looking up, my phone in my hands, as I wait for a special cloud to be perfectly illumi...

All the Lalaloopsy dolls have birthday's and Pillow Featherbed 's is today.  That's the doll on my bow.  Etsy shop is MyLuckyHairBow . Pillow's birthday coincides with Festival of Sleep Day, which sounds like a darn good festival to celebrate, especially when winter is just getting started and I have to drag my butt out of bed before it's even light outside. Believe it or not, about a year ago I was grubbing around in my room for God knows what, and I unearthed a cardboard box of hair bows that I'd forgotten about.  This Lalaloopsy bow was in there, as were a couple'a other bows I haven't yet debuted. As for me, myself...well, I've never owned Pillow Featherbed.  I own Blossom and Petal Flowerpot , Dot Starlight ,  Mint E. Stripes , Scraps Stitched 'n' Sewn , Furry Grrs-a-Lot in both big doll and Lalaloopsy Girl form , Pix E. I associate corduroy with comfort, warmth, and childhood.  When I was a little kid we had a brown corduroy recliner, and more often than not that's where Mama and I sat after dinner.  Our bellies would be full and usually I'd be fresh from a bath, I'd have a lapful of kiddie books, and Mama would hold me and read to me.  Our cat would sometimes add to the homey atmosphere by ricocheting off the back of the chair during a spell of zoomies.  One night I counted five times that she did that, LOL.  We were on the couch that night, but when we were sitting in that chair and the cat bounced off it, it sure made a heckuva noise! Some of my kiddie clothes were also made of corduroy.  I had a little vest that was made of the fabric, and it always chagrined me that I could only wear it during winter.  The vest was dark green, much darker than the bow I've got now, and I could zip it up "all by mys...

On this day in 2016 the movie Trolls was released here in the U.S., so I figure now is as good a time as any to wear this bow. This one showed up in the Wrong Box from AdorasBowsStore last summer.  The flash caught on the bottle cap bit, so here's a better look at the center. Princess Poppy, who made several appearances this past Halloween. Sigh...these Trolls are a LOT different from the ones I collected as a kid.  Between the Cabbage Patch craze and the Beanie Baby bonanza there were trolls.  Mama called 'em Wishniks because that was what they were called during her youth, but I knew 'em as trolls.  I had one in just about every color and just about every size.  I had Treasure Trolls, Magic Trolls, generic trolls with no special gimmick, and the guardians of my fleet, two Battle Trolls.  LOL, yeah, Battle Trolls probably the most ridiculous of them all , but they were a thing.  Battle Trolls were geared towards boys, but I liked 'em too.  Since ...

Y'all know what that means! I think I've worn and shown this bow before (shop name is CherylsBowtasticBows ), but it's one of my favorites because SLOTHS, that's why!  I don't think I ever showed y'all my earrings, though. Those also came from Etsy (shop name is JMDesignsbyUS ), and they're made of wood.  JMDesigns is located in Sedalia, so usually when I order from them I get my item(s) toot sweet.  I never have been to Sedalia, by the way.  They seem to be a tornado magnet, having been hit in 1952, 1973, 1977, and 1980, so maybe I'd best NOT go.  The tornado in 1952 hit the Missouri State Fair, by the way.  Normally it's a bad thing for a tornado to hit during the night, but in that case it was a very good thing, as the fairgrounds were fairly empty.  Indeed, the only fatality in the 1952 storm was in a mobile home, not on the fairgrounds.  But enuff of that; this is supposed to be about sloths, not tornadoes!  If you've read my doll blog t...

I forget how many bows I've got with these critters on them, but I think this is the third I've shared.  <pauses to count>  Yeah, the other two posts were on May 2nd and July 25th .  This one is another Wal-Mart find. I'm not actively collecting these dolls anymore due to their price and their hovels being hard to store, but I do still keep track of what MGA Entertainment is doing with them.  This little gal is one that I don't have in my collection, named Dancebot .  She was apparently glittery, and thus would've been right up my alley. One of these others is the reason why I bought the bow in the first place.  The one with the red hair looks a lot like Can-Do Baby , a Rosie the Riveter type that I got in my first rare pod.  I like rockabilly style, so Can-Do became one of my favorites.  However, I think this doll is Stardust Queen because she has a cape (Can-Do Baby wears no such thing).  The other is Beats , a hip hop-flavored doll...
