Happy little clouds
I'm taking a quick breather from Halloween bows to celebrate another birthday, the birthday of someone I never knew but thought was cool. Tomorrow would've been Bob Ross's birthday, but tomorrow is Sunday and I rarely have reason to wear a hair bow on Sundays. Some of y'all may have heard of Bob Ross, the soft-spoken painter on PBS with a gravity-defying hairstyle who threw together painted landscapes in half an hour. Believe it or not, I have a bow dedicated to him.
Etsy shop is RoxysBowtiqueShop, the same shop that did my Beatles and Led Zeppelin bows (May 26th and August 19th, respectively). Why they chose to put together a bow devoted to Bob Ross I'll never know, but I won't knock it. Mr. Ross has been dead since the mid-nineties, but I think every now and then PBS still shows his program. The calming subject matter and Mr. Ross's soft voice make for a very soothing watch, but I'll admit that like all PBS shows it's not for everyone. My mom thinks his show is boring, but I love watching him throw together these pastoral landscapes in a small timeframe. Is his stuff Van Gogh-level art? No, probably not. But I still like watching Mr. Ross work, and I love how he sometimes throws philosophical ideas into his commentary. If any of y'all fancy a gander, some episodes of The Joy of Painting can be found on YouTube; my favorite episode is this one, where Bob paints an Arctic scene with a more-or-less convincing aurora. Usually his paintings were of forests or lakes or meadows, and they were usually rendered in daylight, so seeing him paint a nighttime scene in a colder area was a nice change.
As a final tidbit, one of my friends suggested this. Suddenly those happy little clouds seem kinda sinister.
Great, now I can't look at my bow without giggling. Thanks, Ashli, you sicko. LOL, love ya! If y'all fancy some chills up and down your spines, go and give Ashli's podcast some love, since Halloween is now only a few days away. She and her husband discuss true crime and mysteries, and it's worth a listen. I kinda wish she was into hair bows herself, since Etsy has plenty that are horror-themed.
Hugs and happy clouds,
