On this day in 1967, my favorite Beatles song "A Day in the Life" was released. To commemorate, a Beatles bow. Etsy shop is RoxysBowtiqueShop.
George is my favorite Beatle, LOL. I always thought he was the cutest, and I like his solo work the best. Ironically, he doesn't sing lead on "A Day in the Life" as far as I know; Paul and Adenoid John shared that role. Indeed, John's heavy vocal presence in the song is the main reason why Mama DOESN'T like "A Day in the Life." She never was John's biggest fan. She DOES like the Beatles, though; I can remember one time during my late teens, when we were all relaxing in our respective bedrooms. Being in the mood for music I popped a Beatles CD into my player, and two seconds later Mama said from her room "You're gonna think I'm crazy, but I could swear I hear "Love Me Do." I replied that I was listening to "Love Me Do" and we both proceeded to have a hearty LOL at that. As for my sister, she happens to like a song that I absolutely loathe, "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." When I asked her why on Earth she liked such a stupid song she replied "Because it's stupid, and because it sounds so cheerful even though the Beatles were anything but!" Indeed, the Fab Four had had just about enuff of each other by the time that turd of a song was released, with John himself stating that he also hated the tune. Shudder...I still hate that one, and Sister hates "A Day in the Life," so it evens out.
If I could have five minutes with Paul or Ringo now I'd ask them to think back to their youth and tell me if they'd ever dreamed they'd get as big as they did. I mean, the Beatles still have fans to this day, long after their breakup and after the deaths of two members. The fact that I was able to find a hair bow devoted to them attests to that. I hope they'll still be popular when I'm the old lady in town!
Much love,
