The first night
Here's where I'm gonna surprise a few people. I've made my Christianity loud and clear, and I've stated my excitement for Christmas...and yet my hair bow for today is decidedly Jewish. Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah.
Yes, I'm a Christian. A Christian Zionist, that is. I back Israel and the Jews wholeheartedly, and I love Jewish holidays. I even have a menorah of my own, though I've never used it. Not yet, anyway; I don't have the right candles for it...or a safe place to put it. Cats, y'know.
With all that's happened this year I predict that Hanukkah will be a melancholy affair for a lot of Jews, especially those that reside in or near Gaza. A lot of 'em died in that attack in October, the fighting hasn't stopped, and there's always the threat of another late-night visit from Hamas. Yeah, yeah, I know there's innocents on the Palestinian side too, but a lot of 'em are not shy about supporting Hamas and the horrible things they do, so there's that. I just pray for all of 'em, 'cause I know God loves 'em all. The Jews are His chosen people, but He loves Gentiles too.
Love and candlelight,
