Thank You for Libraries Day
According to this blog, Thank You for Libraries Day is a thing, though I doubt very many people celebrate it. So today I'm trotting out the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
As usual, I've also got ear baubles. These were birthday gifts from a very sweet patron.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of those classics, and yet I'd never read it until yesterday! The book has the bright illustrations one would expect from Eric Carle, and it tells a simple story about a caterpillar who tries to whet his huge appetite on various fruits. The book teaches basic counting skills, the days of the week, and the basics of a butterfly's life cycle. My old friend humor makes an appearance when the caterpillar inevitably eats too much, but all ends well. The story reminds me of my sister, the family's butterfly lover. We ALL loved butterflies, but she loved 'em a lot.
If y'all have a library in the vicinity, give 'em a visit, and if the librarian isn't a jerk tell 'em how you appreciate 'em. Sometimes we librarians can sadly be jerks...if pushed to their limit, that is.

I know I haven't commented for awhile, but I AM enjoying your bows. I never read this book either, but I have heard of it. They did a very good job on the bow and the earrings are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI hope things are going better for you. I know you've been busy and that things have been kinda rough for you and your family. Yeah, these Eric Carle books are pretty cute! Several of them are read aloud on YouTube if you want to take a gander.
