Lalaloopsy for the win!
I know dolls are not everyone's cuppa, so if they freak you out, please refrain from reading further. I will not be offended. On the other hand, if you like dolls or if you like Coraline, then these may be the poppets for you. That said, today's bow is one of my gaudiest and one of my heaviest. It also pays tribute to my other main hobby, doll collecting. The figurine is a mini Lalaloopsy doll.
If you're a Lalaloopsy fan then you've probably identified the doll. Her name is April Sunsplash. According to the Lalaloopsy wiki, April third was her birthday...and also Find a Rainbow Day. I love rainbows, but I was off work that day. I don't tend to wear my hair tied up when I'm lazing about in bed.
Like the Saggy Baggy Elephant bow, this one came from AMWBowtique, and as I said in that post, Etsy shut AMW down for no apparent reason. The proprietor informed me that her Failbook site is still alive and well...and I forgot to include a link last time!!! Her FB page can be found HERE., and she also has a new Shopify store that can be found HERE. I sadly have not seen her Little Golden Book bows on Shopify, but two other Lalaloopsy bows are available; they were options on Etsy when I bought my April Sunsplash bow. One has my old friend Pix E. Flutters, and the other has Confetti Carnivale.
As one of my patrons stated at the library, I'm a kid at heart, and when I'm fooling around with my dolls said kid at heart is on full display. I bought my first Lalaloopsy when they were a relatively new thing, and since then I've expanded the collection to...I forget how many. <pauses to count> I've got five of the full-sized dolls, one of the little sister-sized dolls, one of those ugly Diaper Surprise dolls, two of the teenaged Lalaloopsy Girls, and one of those long-legged spin-offs that they called Lala-Oopsies. Oh yeah, I've also got minis, but I use those as props for my American Girls and thus never bothered to count 'em. Now...for those unfamiliar with Lalaloopsy dolls, here's what the big ones look like. They come in a wide array of colors and themes, and since they have button eyes they can be a little creepy. These two are Mint E. Stripes and Blossom Flowerpot; I also have a few other characters. I really liked these when they were a new thing.

For awhile Lalaloopsy dolls were all the rage, and one doll, blue-haired Mittens Fluff-n-Stuff, was THE DOLL TO HAVE one Christmas. I don't know why everyone loved Mittens in particular; she IS cute, but then so were her friends. But for awhile these were very popular, and then like all doll lines inevitably do, they disappeared and I was left wondering where they went and what happened. Last year saw a brief revival (that was when I picked up Dot Starlight), but since then the Lalaloopsies have disappeared again. I guess I can understand why the idea fell a little flat, as the dolls are supposed to be cloth dolls who came to life after the last stitch was sewn, but they're made out of plastic with heavy vinyl heads. For awhile it was a running gag on Confessions of a Dolly Lover for me to biff myself in the face with Blossom (or less often Mint) while fooling around with her. Seriously, these dolls can double as clubs. The minis, like the one on my bow, got around the weight issue, but the joke's on me because this bow is one of my heaviest. AMWBowtique makes her bows out of vegan leather and then decorates them to the hilt, so usually these bows weigh quite a bit. But with careful placing, they can still be comfortable. Look how long the streamers are, by the way! They fall to about T1 on my back...right where my spine tends to hurt the most.
So far I only own two hair bows with streamers, both from AMWBowtique. I have plenty with long tails, but only two with streamers. And yes, there is a difference. A nit-picky difference, but a difference nonetheless.
