Halloween 2026

It's that time of year again, and thank God, it's a Saturday.  I can go straight home tonight, hide from the kids, and sleep late tomorrow.  Yes, I love Halloween, and I'd love to be in the right physical form to hand out candy, but the chairs on our porch aren't the most comfortable.  Still, I'm in the holiday spirit with this JoJo Bow...
...and my "Fear the Living" mani.  I may try to get one more week outta this one.
Pity my bow has no green, or it would match my nails nicely.  Oh well, it don't have to match.

Today looks to be at least somewhat rainy, but like Fourth of July I've never known a Halloween that was a complete washout.  Heck, if it rained my friends would be loaded in the car and they'd be driven to Trick-or-Treat locations, rain be durned.  I figure that's what they'll do this year if it rains.  As for me, I'm staying home where it's warm and dry.  I've got chocolate, YouTube, and my mama, and it's gonna be sweet.

Pac-Man fever

For the record, I suck at Pac-Man.  I've only played it a handful of times, but each time I couldn't get past the first level.  I guess it's one of those games that requires practice and patience...and patience is NOT one of my virtues!  Regardless, I do like Pac-Man.  Compared to the dumb video games we have today Pac-Man's simple innocence is...well, it's pretty nice.  Unfortunately I'm about to make myself look like a complete hypocrite, because my Pac-Man is munching more than just little white pellets! I spoke too soon!

Okay, I spoke too soon about July being super-dull.  Today is a family-favorite holiday, National Hot Dog Day.  Thus I get to wear my corn dog!  Etsy shop is CreationsbyCronisha , and they are currently not selling. The corn dog is no gray area, I must say!  I've gotten laughter, compliments, and a few folks that shrug and say "You do you."  Hey, as long as they're not rude I can dig whatever they say.  But I like to wear goofy stuff, and...well, wearing a crocheted corn dog is about as goofy as it gets. Mama and I went on a strict diet around the first of July, because our weight is getting out of hand and our joints ache because of it.  Lots of water, lots of fiber, lots of eggs, no candy or chips or soda.  Not the most fun, but we already feel better because of it.  But today we might go to Sonic and pick up a hot dog apiece.  Sonic makes their hot dogs good.  I like mine with relish, mustard, and kraut, while Mama likes...well, ...

Story time.  When I was a freshman in high school I had a friend who turned out not to be so great a friend after all.  We hung out together because our mothers were both teachers and because we both claimed to be holier than thou.  And because we were holier than thou, we were above the witchcraft and wizardry that was Harry Potter.  Not too long after she'd led me to believe the books were satanic, she spread a rumor that I was suicidal and that was the end of that "friendship."  My opinions on everything changed, but by that time I was too disgusted with life to even try the books I'd deemed evil, so I didn't read the Harry Potter series until I was about twenty-nine or so.
