Try to set the night on fire

Image
The last time I wore this bow it was the anniversary of Vincent van Gogh's death.  This year I wanted his birthday, come hell or high water.  The Starry Night has always made me think of the Doors and " Light My Fire ," LOL.  The stars look like they literally are burning down the night sky.  My bow isn't really a good representation of that, but the reference is clear. I included a pair of earrings that I've not yet worn.  Mama found me those. I wish I could find some accessories to wear that had some of Van Gogh's other paintings on it.  The Starry Night is probably his best known piece, but I'm fond of some of his wheatfield paintings.  I particularly like this one , with storm clouds in the background.  And of course, the vase of sunflowers .  I love that one.   Starry love, RagingMoon1987

Part of your world

Today is International Mermaid Day, where we pay tribute to merfolk all over the world.  But today I'm dealing with just one particular mermaid.  Etsy shop is the one and only MoFunAccessories . This hair dec is a fairly obvious nod to The Little Mermaid , particularly with the "dinglehopper."  I never was the world's biggest Little Mermaid fan, though I did love how Ariel wasn't afraid to back-talk to her father.  I do not recommend sassing one's parents, but we all know that teenagers do it, and Ariel was precisely that (she specifically states that she's sixteen).  Then true of teenagers she makes a rash decision and gets in over her head, but because this is Disney everything ends hunky-dory. It's funny, I didn't have a lot of problems with my family when I was sixteen.  True, I wasn't allowed to do much and I didn't like that, but instead of yelling and arguing I asked Daddy point-blank "Don't you trust me to say 'no'?...

Easter snuck up on me! I hate it when Easter comes early!  When it comes early it can often mean rain, cold weather, even snow.  When I was very, very little that meant either no Easter egg hunt at all or one inside.  Not that that wasn't fun, of course!  I distinctly remember Easter of 1994, which fell on April third and was wet and rainy.  I was already a tornado buff at the time and found it fitting that April third would be stormy , but I digress.  Mama and Daddy had hidden the plastic Easter eggs in the living room for my sister and me to find, and oh, what fun we had hiding and rehiding those eggs.  And of course there was the candy and toys in our baskets to make us good and hyper, and The Tale of the Bunny Picnic was on one of the kids' channels so there was that to enjoy.  LOL, I still like that opening song! As I grew older my family started going to church again, and Easter consisted of wearing a new outfit if the weather was nice enuf...

Something red...

Told y'all my solid bows would be getting more mileage!  Today is American Red Cross Giving Day, as well as Little Red Wagon Day, so I trotted out a small number that I usually reserve for winter. Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of the Red Cross.  They treated Uncle From St. Louis well while he worked there, and he acted like he loved the gig.  He did security, then couriering, then warehouse work before retiring, and he enjoyed the warehouse work because he got to drive a forklift.  But his daddy/my grandfather served in Europe during World War II, and he said all the Red Cross did was serve coffee and tell a man when a baby had been born.  In the aftermath of the Tri-State Tornado, some victims also reported that there was a lot of politics involved in who the Red Cross helped.  One lady who was interviewed reported that her family got ZERO help from the Red Cross, but her neighbors got a whole new house built.  The Red Cross isn't ALL bad, of cour...

Something random will live long and prosper

Image
Today is Live Long and Prosper Day, but I'm not big enuff of a Star Trek fan to have one of the bows.  Not yet, anyway; I certainly have nothing against Star Trek , and I love that fiasco with the Tribbles.  The Doctor captured me with ease, so I reckon First Officer Spock can too if I let him.  By the way, when I was a little kid Spock gave me the creeps; there was a poster in the old library with him on it, and I did everything I could to avoid it.  Rambling aside, no Star Trek bow today.  I picked something at random, something I haven't worn in awhile.  VeryShine is the Etsy shop this time; I last wore this bow in September . According to some of my dolly friends denizens of the planet Shimmeron wear a lot of lace.  That would mean Spectra and the Shimmerons , of course.  So, residents of Shimmeron, live long and prosper, may the Force be with you, don't piss off the Cybermen, all that good stuff. I do not own Spectra or any of her lacy, sp...

Two holidays!

It's both Cuddly Kitten Day AND National Puppy day!  For that I'm draggin' out the UGA bow , because those paw prints could belong to any critter! University of Georgia didn't make it into March Madness, and University of Kentucky got eliminated last Wednesday.  To my considerable amusement, University of Vermont made it into the tournament but sadly got eliminated last night.  That was the school my sister earned her doctorate at, but that's about all I can say that's positive about the place.  My sister and her husband reported that the folks (at least in and around Burlington) were rude as hell, and Sister's coworkers were ignorant as all get-out when tornado season rolled around.  Yeah...Sis doesn't have the fondest memories of her time in Vermont.  So seeing University of Vermont on the bracket makes me chuckle.   It's also Be Mad Day, and I'm...well, actually I have nothing to be mad about!  I guess I could be mad that University of Ken...

Spring and all

Image
Yep, I'm finally celebrating the return of spring !  It's...well, today is actually quite beautiful.  Late March can be a mixed bag in the Bootheel, but today the weather is lovely.  There is a slight chance of rain, but I love rain.  All that said, it's time to trot out the flowers and the rainbows again, and today's bow is perfect for that.  I've been holding onto this beauty since mid-November.  Mama got it for me when things were kinda rough.  Etsy shop is perfectprincess . It's hard to pick between fall and spring as a favorite season, but for me I think spring will always eke fall out by just a hair.  It's a beautiful time, when the flowers and the trees are budding, when the winter wheat begins to look green and healthy, when the birds trill in the trees.  I love spring.   On the other hand, I do live on the edge of two large tornado hotbeds, so spring can be kinda dicey.  April and May are usually the worst months, but ...
