Circle of life

On this day in 1994 one of my favorite Disney movies was released.  For that, I present my sister's childhood friend, Simba.
Oh, The Lion King is special to me for so many reasons.  It was the first movie that made me both laugh and cry, because who DOESN'T cry when Mufasa gets killed???  I was used to death and loss in Disney movies, having seen both Bambi and Dumbo, but one doesn't actually see Bambi's mother get killed, and Dumbo eventually gets reunited with his mother.  So that was a first for me.  Then there's the music, done by the one and only Sir Elton John, whose music I love.  Had no idea who the guy was when I was little, but when "Circle of Life" kicked in my attention was captured.  I loved the whole score, and I even waltzed around the playground more than once singing "Hakuna Matata" (I read once that Elton John HATED writing music for "Hakuna Matata"), but "Circle of Life" was and still is my favorite song in the flick.

More importantly, my sister LOVED Simba when she was little.  When she was about three she received a set containing a big stuffed Mufasa and a little Simba for Christmas.  Simba fit in Mufasa's mouth, and Sister fell in love with him.  Hell with Mufasa, Simba was her one and only!  That same Christmas Sister received another small stuffed animal, a Tiny Tag-a-Long cat named Kiki.  Simba and Kiki were best friends for many years, and for as many years my sister wagged them around everywhere.  Sometimes she'd load them into her shirt collar and go bouncing around the yard like a kangaroo.  It was a riot.

Overall The Lion King is a special movie for me.  It's not my absolute favorite Disney movie; Dumbo and 101 Dalmatians tie for that spot.  But I do love The Lion King and I'm pleased to have a bow commemorating that.  The bow is one of those that came in the wrong box, but I'm not complaining.

Yet another patriotic one.  This one came from Etsy, but I don't know what shop it was. This one is one of three that my mother got for me in one fell swoop.  The others are the jellybean bow from June 3rd and the flag bow from June 14th . Like them, this bow is a big one. Pac-Man fever

For the record, I suck at Pac-Man.  I've only played it a handful of times, but each time I couldn't get past the first level.  I guess it's one of those games that requires practice and patience...and patience is NOT one of my virtues!  Regardless, I do like Pac-Man.  Compared to the dumb video games we have today Pac-Man's simple innocence is...well, it's pretty nice.  Unfortunately I'm about to make myself look like a complete hypocrite, because my Pac-Man is munching more than just little white pellets! Phooey on pellets and fruit and ghosts, Pac-Man's hitting the hard stuff!  The Etsy carrier, DollfaceDesignss , goes heavy on the horror, so I guess Pill-Popper Pac-Man is kinda tame compared to Psycho .  Whatevs, I like my accessories a little (or a lot) on the offbeat side, so I'm happy.  This is a mighty nice bow, by the way.  Some of my bows pull my hair like mad, but this one slid right in. Colour my world

It's Crayon Day! It should be no surprise to y'all that I love crayons even now.  When I was very, very little I only had four, in the colors depicted on the bow:  red, blue, yellow, and green.  When I started school I learned that crayons come in many, many other colors, but I digress.  Green was my favorite color as a toddler, and it remains that way now, but for some reason I chose blue earrings to go with the bow. I think I chose blue because I wear blue jeans every day, and blue jewelry matches blue jeans.  Or that's the way I reasoned back in high school.  But for the record, I do love blue; when one is a Moody Blues fan one tends to gravitate towards blue, and I am indeed a fan, LOL.  Heck, I liked blue BEFORE I could tell Justin Hayward from Justin Timberlake (which isn't hard, as one's old and talented and the other is young and does better on SNL than he does as a singer).  But anyway, I got the blue crayons to go with my bow.  Pity I couldn't find da
