Rerun!

Image
The other day was Lemonade Day , and now it's Lemon Juice Day! Truth be told, I actually prefer lime juice to lemon juice.  Mama and I had that discussion yesterday, LOL.  Don't get me wrong, I love lemons and lemonade, but I LOVE limeade.  It's green, or greener than lemonade, and it's more sour.  Mind y'all, I don't like things so sour that my jaws ache ( Cry Baby gumballs did that to me one Halloween), but I do like them naturally sour, like citrus fruits are.  Citrus fruits also help fight kidney stones, so that's an extra incentive.  But yeah, I love lemon juice and lime juice, especially in plain ol' water or in iced tea. That's all for today!  Definitely lighter than my last lemon bow post. Lemon love (and lime love), RagingMoon1987

Over the rainbow

Image
Today is for our critters that are over the Rainbow Bridge. As far as I know BowBow is NOT over the Rainbow Bridge, but JoJo Siwa is a pet owner like the best of us, and she knows what it's like to lose 'em.  One of hers got taken by coyotes, which I can also relate to.  When I was little my paternal grandparents had four dogs, and one was a beagle named Peep.  Peep was allowed to roam loose (unlike the other dogs), and it caught up to her a couple'a times.  She spent the last few years of her life crippled after a car hit her, and not long after Grandpa died the coyotes got her.  Daddy found her remains on the ridge and buried her, and that was the end of my friend Peep. That said, I love coyotes.  I know they can be pesky and destructive, but they have their place in the world and I respect 'em.  On winter nights we can hear 'em way off, howling and yipping.  I love to hear 'em, but at the same time I'm glad they're out at the ridge and I'm here...

I dare you

August 27th is Kiss Me Day, among other things, so I wore one of my Valentine's Day bows.  Not the naughty one , but another one. Word of warning, though:  if anyone actually does kiss me and they're not my mother, my uncle from St. Louis, or one of my pets, I'm knocking their teeth down their throat.  No unsolicited kisses for me, thank you too much.  Hmmm...maybe I should've worn my pride bow instead. Or maybe we're talking about Kiss with a capital K. Burn with me, heaven's on fire!!!  LOL, I forget how much I like Kiss sometimes; they're one of those bands that my sister introduced me to.  Oh, there's WAY more to Kiss than " Rock 'n' Roll All Nite ."  I think my sister said that her favorite song was " Detroit Rock City ," while I like the aforementioned " Heaven's On Fire ."  They're a fun bunch. Kinda puts a whole new spin on Kiss Me Day, LOL! Cheers, RagingMoon1987

Labubu and lacquer

Image
It's another random day, so I reached into my bin and selected...Labubu! I discussed Labubu briefly on my doll blog, but for the uninitiated, Labubu is a plush toy that looks like a cross between a rabbit and one of the critters in Where the Wild Things Are .  They're ridiculously popular, and some variants go for a pretty penny, kinda like the Beanie Babies of my youth.  I get it, they're cute and soft and a little goofy, but I predict that in ten years' time Labubu will be a dated trend. On the lacquer front, I got a huge nail mail haul yesterday.  Not the biggest I've ever gotten, but big enuff. So far the biggest haul has been ten bottles in one day, but eight is not to be sneezed at.  From left, they are: *Color Club, "Dirty Money" *Cupcake Polish, "Freeze Frame" *Hard Candy, "Hot Pants" *I Scream Nails, "House of Horrors" *Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, "PEEPS Party Cake," "PEEPS Marshmallow," "PEEPS Bl...

Going to the doctor...again

Image
She's a neurologist, to be specific.  Hopefully today we learn why I'm on a walker at the age of 38-going-on-39.   Oh yeah, it's also the first day of school for the suckers here in Malden. Not that they teach much at Malden anymore.  It's all computerized, and all the older kids care about is football.  That wouldn't be a big deal if Malden had a winning team, but we're currently on a slump and have been for a couple'a years now.  All sports teams go through slumps and it's not the end of the world, but it IS disheartening.  I'll share what I learn (if anything) over on my doll blog tonight.  God bless,  RagingMoon1987

Another one!

Image
Oooo, I get two random days in a row! I don't know about y'all, but I'm kinda disappointed that the Lalaloopsy revival didn't last long.  True, the button-eyed minxes were top-heavy and not the least bit cuddly, and they creeped some people out, but they were also ridiculously popular during their heyday, and I'll happily admit to being a fan.  Indeed, I'm STILL looking for a Mittens Fluff 'n' Stuff; for some reason she was the It Girl when Lalaloopsy was a new thing. Much love, RagingMoon1987

I enjoy days like these

Image
No events, silly or important, struck my fancy today, so I reached into my box and grabbed a bow. Ah, the big cotton bow!  The cotton here in the Bootheel isn't looking pretty yet, but it won't be too much longer 'til it does.  Of course, that means that the crop dusters will be spraying that God-forsaken defoliant, but that's a small price to pay for living in a farming area.  I wouldn't trade my farmland for the world! If any of y'all have a favorite crop, please drop it below. Love, RagingMoon1987

Mmmm...

Lemonade Day! Lemonade is better even that Kool-Aid, at least in my book.  My best friend in high school would've begged to differ.  She's the only person I knew personally who didn't like lemonade.   To each their own, right?  I even know of one case where a dislike of lemonade saved a woman's life, though in the end she probably wished she had died with everyone else.  Her name was Sandy Johnson, and she was the presumed target of Steven Roy Harper.  Harper and Johnson had dated and broken up, Harper wanted to get back at Johnson, and Harper just happened to work at a cancer research center.  He purloined a bottle of a chemical that induces liver cancer, busted into Johnson's house while no one was home, and poured the chemical into some lemonade.  The chemical, DMN, has no taste, smell, or distinct color, so no one suspected a thing.  As it turned out, Sandy Johnson didn't like lemonade and thus never took the bait...but most of her f...

International Bow Day

Image
Yep, it's a thing!  Such an event calls for one that's big and sparkly! This one does NOT utilize a French clip, but it pulls almost as bad as one!  Indeed, my white one yesterday was medium-uncomfortable, but I made home before taking it down.  Today I've already had to redo my ponytail twice.  Still, it's a pretty bow.  Mama said it's one of her favorites. Cheers, RagingMoon1987

Happy anniversary!

Image
If Daddy were alive he and Mama would've been married forty-two years.  I think my white lace bow is appropriate. This is actually not a favorite, as it attaches with a French clip.  French clips pull my hair.  Shame too, 'cause it's a pretty bow and it looks nice in my hair.  Today I managed to get it placed just right, so I should be fine. In other news, new mani! The color this time is Mooncat's "Plankton."  It's also the first time in forever that I've had honest-to-God GREEN nails.  Not chartreuse, not celadon, not hunter.  Just plain ol' green, with teeny-weeny gold flecks and widely scattered holo flecks.  It took three coats to get the opacity I wanted, but that was also the case with the last stuff I wore.  Little word of advice, by the way:  Mooncat apparently doesn't appreciate advice on dupes . Happy anniversary, Mama! Love, RagingMoon1987

For the bees

Image
I couldn't find any of my bee bows (I have four of 'em), but I did find my big sunflower.  Bees love flowers, as we all know. Stepping outside in the Bootheel continues to be like walking on the sun .  It's supposed to hit ninety-eight today and a hundred tomorrow, not counting the heat index.  I semi-joked to Mama that God WOULD wait until the day that we're all home to turn the oven on "broil."  Thanks, God, but I'm about done on this side!  I love you, though. And I love y'all!  Stay cool and stay safe! All my love, RagingMoon1987

Kool-Aid!

Image
I still don't have a Kool-Aid-themed bow, so I picked a bright solid instead. It has literally been YEARS since I drank Kool-Aid, but I'll always associate it with childhood and with summer.  Mama was always making it for us, and we were always drinking it.  I remember the grape stuff the best, nice and cold, with a bendy straw. Stay cool out there! Love, RagingMoon1987

Pray for rain...or something

Image
Usually I reserve plastic bows for rainy days, but there ain't a cloud in sight. NWS is expecting the heat index in Malden to hit 109 today, and as I said the other day our A/C likes to conk out when it gets too hot outside.  It even did it in the middle of the night last night, which it usually doesn't do.  What can I say, the poor thing is old and needs a good cleaning. Now, God...I'll hire some Native Americans to do a rain dance if I have too.  PLEASE send some rain, or a cold front or SOMETHING!!! Hot love, RagingMoon1987

Basic ball

Image
It's Baseball Fans Day!  That means the baseball skin bow again...except I couldn't find it.  My big red polka dot bow will suffice, since I'm a casual Cardinals fan. Truth be told, I'm not a live-strong, die-hard fan of baseball, or "basic ball," as Daddy jokingly put it.  I do like it, and I'll root for my Cardinals win or lose, but I don't follow baseball religiously like some folks do.  Heck, I don't even know if the Cards have a winning season or a losing one this year! Love and baseball,  RagingMoon1987

The big silver bow

Image
Today I was in the mood for the big one. Nothing today, otherwise.  Hot here, Ryan Hall is live already, and I figure Max Velocity is too.  Usually when one is live the other one is too.  I prefer Ryan Hall, but both men do an incredible job of warning people when the meteorological excrement hits the fan. Love and lightning,  RagingMoon1987

Hot for Christ

Image
Mmkay, I'm not as hot for Christ as I should be.  Some of my friends are so full of the Spirit that they glow.  But I do believe in Christ and His eternal glory, hence the bow. Why am I wearing a bow today, on my day off?  Well...our A/C doesn't work right when it gets super-hot, so I'm at work today.  Heat index is predicted to be about 110.  AND IT'S GONNA GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER!!!!!!!!!  Both Ryan Hall and Max Velocity have been kinda bug-eyed about it.  So right now I'm praying fervently that the A/C holds up as best it can.  It probably needs a good cleaning. Blessed be, RagingMoon1987

A bit late, but...

Image
...stars and stripes forever! This poor ol' country ain't what she used to be, thanks to the lunatics in power.  But she's my home and I love her.   Not much else to say!  It's Saturday and I'm looking forward to the weekend.  It's also International Cat Day, but to my surprise I didn't have a bow for that...shucks, yeah, I did.  Pete the Cat would've worked. Pride, RagingMoon1987

A beloved old fallback

Image
I've been wearing this one a lot lately.  It goes with just about everything I own, and it either matches or sharply contrasts with the weather around me.  Today it'll be contrasting, as the weather is cloudy and thunderstorms are predicted for later. Sunshine and rainbows, RagingMoon1987

Keroppi and Deep Purple

Image
Today is no special day in particular, so I dug out Keroppi. Mama gave her stamp of approval; she likes frogs as long as they don't jump on her.  But then I think that's all of us!  I'm not afraid of frogs, but I'll scream if one surprises me. In other news, my manicure gave out last night, and when that happens it's time for a change.  This is Carter, one of Zoya's Pixie Dust colors. This one was kinda hard to work with; y'all can probably see how sloppy my cuticles are.  It took three coats to get the shade and opacity that I wanted, but it was worth it.  My nails could sing " Hush " now, LOL.  For the record, "Carter" and Zoya's other Pixie Dust shades are textured, which is new territory for me.  I've never had nail polish that wasn't smooth...until now. Cheers,  RagingMoon1987

Trying to get back into a rhythm

Image
After awhile one runs out of things to say about hair bows, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.  I'm wearing a new one today, with a Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat theme. Here's a better look at the hat, and at my chartreuse nails. This bow was provided by my mama, as many of my bows are. It's been two years since I updated this blog, and if y'all read my doll blog then you know that my life is a little crazy right now.  The Cliff Notes version of it goes as follows:  I've lost the ability to walk on my own, I need surgery for uterine fibroids, and I can't get it until my mobility is better.  On the positive side, my mental state is pretty good, better than it usually is in August. Also...coming soon to a manicure near you!  These are "Elf Taught" and "Holiday Tree-ditions." In addition to the hair bows I've started collecting nail polish, just for the helluvit.  Life's frustrating and boring at times, and the world I l...
