NATIONAL DOLL DAY!!!

Image
Fantastic!!!  This is MY holiday, hands down.  Now...do I wear my American Girl bow, or one of my Barbie bows?  Decisions, decisions... Despite my best efforts I could not find a Cabbage Patch Kid-themed bow.  I could find bows FOR the Kids, but no themed bow for the fat girl who owns almost thirty Kids.  I did find a bow with the Bratz on it, but it was kinda ugly so I didn't get it either.  The Bratz are divisive; even my friends on the doll blog are divided on them, but I associate them with good times.   And now I go to a funeral.  Funzies...not. According to sources, Barbie's birthday is today.  If she were a real little person she'd be sixty-five. Of course this bow doesn't show my mother's vintage Barbie, the one who I always picture when I think of good ol' Barbie, but as I noted last summer no Barbie bows show the vintage dolls.  Kinda a shame, but then again most vintage doll collectors don't make a habit of wearing hair bows.  The Etsy shop, YellowBellesCreation, appears to be defunct. Many years ago I posted a comparison on my doll blog, showing Mama's Barbie with one available during the current day.  This year I decided to do it again, because Barbie has come a long way since 1959. In 1959 Barbie came in one skin tone, one eye color, and two hair colors.  Her heels were high, her boobies were big, and she...didn't look much like the teenage fashion model she was supposed to be.  She didn't get a black relative (yes, relative) until 1967 when her cousin Francie was rendered in an Afr...

Milk's favorite cookie

And the Moon Girl's favorite cookie as well.  It's Oreo Day, and I love me some Oreos!  Etsy shop is  RoxysBowtiqueShop , where I get many of my more original bows ( Bob Ross !). Mama and I have been known to polish off a whole pack of Double Stuf Oreos during a car ride, and I've never thought to ask my brother-in-law what he thinks of the cookies.  My sister inexplicably hates Oreos, particularly the stuff in the middle...in other words, the best part.  I'll never forget what Uncle From St. Louis cried when he learned Sister didn't like the cookies:  "You don't like OREOS???  That's un-American!!!"  LOL, I don't know what's so American about Oreos, but according to my uncle not liking Oreos is highly abnormal.  That said, I do see Sister's point, as too many of the darn things can give one a mondo sugar rush or worse, a stomachache.  As I've said before, Sister prefers her treats fruity or sour, which Oreos definitely are not. Barbie girl

As with Dalek Day , Barbie Doll Day has left me scratching my head a little.  Barbie's "birthday" is in March, and yet here it is September.  I don't guess it matters much though, since I've got bows for each day.  Here's the one for today.  Etsy shop is MadeWithLoveByAnaM .  I had a giggle when I learned that the shop is based in Malden, Massachusetts, because sometimes I get phone calls from people there.  One of them even asked me "Did they hire someone new at the library?  You sound southern!"  Then usually it clicks for me and I'll ask "Are you in Malden, Massachusetts?  You've got the right town, but the wrong state!"  Then we'll have a hearty chuckle and we'll hang up.  I like folks from Massachusetts, LOL!  Anyway, here's the bow. I think it's a shame that none of the Barbie bows I found on Etsy show a vintage Barbie.  True, the bows I have are geared towards modern children and not collectors, but still it w...
