Happy birthday to me!

I'm thirty-six today, and my birthday calls for something colorful. I love rainbow anything, especially hair bows, and this one was a gift (from my mom, of course) so it's extra special.  I've always loved rainbows and the holy covenant that they symbolize.  I also love how all rainbows are the same colors and are formed in the same way, but no two are ever quite alike.  One of my favorite hobbies is sky photography, and I'm always looking for rainbows when the conditions are right.  I captured this one on August 28th, 2020, for example.  The sun was partly hidden by clouds and was still fairly high, so there was only a single, partial bow.  The colors were glorious, though! On October 12th, 2022 I captured this spectacular double rainbow shortly after sunrise.  Because the sun has just risen the bow had  a ruddy tint , and because the sky to the east was relatively clear both bows were full. That rainbow and the resulting pictures are very dear t...

Another special birthday

Today is my sister's birthday.  Don't tell anyone, but she's thirty-two.  Since purple is her favorite color I'm sporting that today. Shop is Tulazohairbows , the same place that I got this bow and this bow .  I actually got this lavender one first, mainly because I loved the huge pom-pom.  My homemade poms come out anemic and scraggly-looking, so I applaud Tulazo for their fat, fluffy poms.  This bow is unique among my bows for another reason, as it has...well, Etsy calls this "moon stitching."  I only have a handful of bows like that, but, I like the effect a lot because it's almost always done with a contrasting thread. Sister told Mama that she'll be spending her birthday birthing calves, so...yay, I guess?  She loves working with cattle, so she'll be in her element.  Happy birthday, Sis!  I wish you were here. A special birthday

Today would've been my dad's birthday.  He'd have been seventy-one.  For reasons I never thought to ask, Daddy loved elephants.  He collected elephants like I collect dolls and hair bows, and indeed the day that he died we'd been out shopping at antique stores (a pastime enjoyed by the whole family), and he'd added some new ones to his collection.  Said collection had a place of honor in our living room, and thus immediately after he died we had to explain it to a large number of church friends.  No, wait... I had to do the explaining, because Mama was fielding phone calls and my sister was hiding.  Explaining it was like a knife to the gut, because I knew Daddy would've been proud to know so many people showed interest in his elephants.  So in honor of Daddy's birthday I'm sporting a bow with an elephant. It's actually a University of Alabama bow, LOL.  I do like the Crimson Tide, but even if I didn't I'd have been all over this bow like wh...
