The Bow Belle

In a normal year this would be the last day of February, but this year is not a normal year.  February's birthstone is the amethyst, so I opted for my beloved purple pom-pom bow.  Etsy shop is one of my favorites, Tulazohairbows . I've shown this one twice here, I b'lieve...no, only once, apparently.  I last wore this bow on September 9th in honor of my sister's birthday.  But let's face it, purple is awesome (or I think it is), and like green I don't need a reason to wear purple.  I used to tease the bejesus out of my sister about purple being ugly, and she gave as good as she took, but it was all just us being ornery.  I always think of my sister when I wear purple. It should probably be no surprise, therefore, that I like amethyst.  None of my immediate family were born in February so no one wore the lovely purple stone in their earlobes or on their fingers, but that won't stop me, LOL.  Seriously, I wear a sapphire on my ring finger, even tho...

Today is my sister's birthday.  Don't tell anyone, but she's thirty-two.  Since purple is her favorite color I'm sporting that today. Shop is Tulazohairbows , the same place that I got this bow and this bow .  I actually got this lavender one first, mainly because I loved the huge pom-pom.  My homemade poms come out anemic and scraggly-looking, so I applaud Tulazo for their fat, fluffy poms.  This bow is unique among my bows for another reason, as it has...well, Etsy calls this "moon stitching."  I only have a handful of bows like that, but, I like the effect a lot because it's almost always done with a contrasting thread. Sister told Mama that she'll be spending her birthday birthing calves, so...yay, I guess?  She loves working with cattle, so she'll be in her element.  Happy birthday, Sis!  I wish you were here. I always thought the name of this holiday was kinda dumb, since I associate a red nose with a nasty cold or an equally nasty battle with allergies.  But either way, today is Red Nose Day ...and since Walgreen's left Malden I won't be getting an inkpen!!!  But I've got the bow...or one that can work for today. Etsy shop is Tulazohairbows .  The bows from here aren't ridiculously big, but they're comfortable and colorful with nice long tails, and some of the bows even have big pom-poms or tassels hanging from the center.  When I was a little kid I loved pom-poms; very few of my clothes had them, but I still liked them.  They were usually round (I like round things), and they were almost always colorful (I love colors), so if I had a pom-pom I was usually in hog heaven for awhile.
